The two most valid reasons for users transitioning to VoIP phone systems from a public switched telephone network (PSTN) are because of its cost effective and provides a variety of functions that are not possible with a traditional circuit-switched voice communication networks. There a few low-cost service providers for residential use, which facilitate long distance international calls at a fraction of the price compared to the ones availed over a PSTN facilitated call.
